SENATOR RAYMOND ANTHONY B.A. (Econ), C.D.,
M.P.
He is a trained diplomat and served as High Commissioner for Grenada to the United Kingdom and the European Communities. Senator Anthony has a varied experience in the law and acted in various public capacities including Special Prosecutor, Magistrate, Senior Crown Counsel for the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Legal Officer London Borough of Brent, England. His areas of specialisation include corporate law, international trade law, offshore banking, insurance, trusts, real estate, conveyancing, labour law, immigration and general practice. He is a former National Coach, a keen sportsman, Sports Administrator, and holds the National High Jump record in Grenada. In addition he has served as Director on several
statutory boards and companies in Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda including,
National Water Authority, Grenada Telephone Company, the Grenada Electricity
Company, RDF Enterprises Limited, (Grenada), Police Service Commission,
the Pesticide Control Board, Nelson Dockyard Board ( Antigua ) and served
as President of various sporting and cultural organizations in Grenada.
SAMUEL CHARLES M.A., M.I.P.M. Mr. Charles is an experienced Lawyer and acts as a consultant to the firm. He is a Barrister at Law and is a member of both the United Kingdom and Antigua and Barbuda Bar. Further he holds a Master of Arts degree and is a member of the Institute of Personel Management. His main area of specialisation is company, real
estate, labour law and international trade law, offshore matters, and general
practice.
LAURETTA ANTHONY S.C.M. Lauretta Anthony is legal Secretary in the firm. She received her formal education and working experience in the United Kingdom. She has recently embarked in a career in the legal field. She is a qualified in nursing and midwifery and
has experience in dealing with people in a professional manner
The pricipal legislation is the the International Companies Act Cap 152 of the Laws of Grenada Before an individual could apply for a licence i.e. banking, insurance, etc.an internationl compamy has to be formed. The principal advantages of an IBC in GRENADA are: 1. No corporation tax, capital gains, or other
direct taxes
ECONOMIC CITIZENSHIP (PASSPORTS) The legislation which gave effect to the Economic Citizenship Program is the Citizenship Amendment Act 1997. All applications for Economic Citizenship must be processed by an Approved Agent of the Government of Grenada. Senator Raymond Anthony is an Approved Agent of the Government of Grenada. Grenada is a member of the Commonweath and a member of most Inernational Organizations. It has a democratic government based on the Westminster (British) model. Grenada ‘s passport is recognised and respected worldwide. The holder of a Grenada passport enjoys visa free travel to several countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, the Caricom and Latin American region and Scandinavia. Once documentation are in order, passport can
be delivered in two (2) to four (4) weeks.
OFFSHORE BANKING The principal Legislation is the Offshore Banking Act 1996 ( No. 39 of 1996) The Act provides a comprehensive framework for the licencing and supervision of offshore banks. The legislation was recently amended (1999) which effectively reduced the capital requirement for establishing an offshore bank in Grenada. Before a licence is granted by the Minister of Finance, routine checks are made of the applicants. There two types of licences, class 1 (unrestricted)
and class 11 (restricted)
INTERNATIONAL TRUSTS The principal legislations are The Internatinal Trusts Act 1996 (Non.40 of 1996) Basically the International Trusts extends the common law postion with respect to trusts. There are two forms of trusts licences, restricted
and unrestricted.
COMPANY MANAGEMENT
INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE The legislation which deals with this area of offshore business is the International Insurance Act (No.37 of 1996). The Act provides for the licencing of international
insurance companies. The insured property
The Act also provides for the formation of captives.
BETTING AND GAMING LICENCES In 1998 The International Betting Act came into force in Grenada which make provision for the granting of International Betting licences and matters connected therewith. The legislation makes provision for offshore betting in a regulated framework. The Act specifies the criteria for the granting of licences. Further our firm submits applications for other forms of licences as requested by our clients.
