Staff

The National Disaster Office located at Fort Frederick, Richmond Hill, St. George's is the secretariat for the National Disaster Management Agency. It is staffed by a contingent of persons who attend to the day to day affairs of the Agency.

benedictpetersThe National Disaster Coordinator is Mr. Benedict Peters. Mr. Peters' background is in Environmental Health, an area he served in for twenty five(25) years before he joined the Staff of NaDMA on the 18th of May 2009. Mr. Peters holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in ... and a Masters in Public Health Degree.

 

 

 

Mr. Terence Walters is the newest member of staff. He joined the organization on November 9th 2009 in the position of Deputy Disaster Coordinator. Mr. Walters has been employed with the Government of Grenada for the past 22 years beginning as a Teacher at the St. George’s Anglican Senior School where he served from 1987 to 1998. He then went on to serve as Assistant Drug Control Officer at the Drug Control Secretariat, Ministry of Education, from 1998 to 2009. Mr. Walters is a Qualified Teacher and also has an educational background in Substance Abuse prevention, Management Studies and Public Health. Mr. Walters performs with a local theatre company and is also a part-time radio announcer.

ashtonThe Technical Officer at NaDMA is Ms. Ann-Denise Ashton. Ms. Ashton has been with the Agency from September 2000 after having served with the Ministry of Health for fifteen (15) years in various departments and finally at the Epidemiology Unit before leaving to join the Disaster Management fraternity. Ms. Ashton who's background is in Information Management is a regional PAHO instructor in the field of Health Informatics.

 

 

jerrylewisMr. Jerry Lewis serves the Agency in the capacity of Telecommunications Officer. Mr. Lewis who has been on loan from the Royal Grenada Police Force since September 8th 2004, served as a Radio Operator at the Force for fifteen (15) years before joining the NaDMA staff. Mr. Lewis is a licensed HAM Radio Operator and the Telecommunications Instructor at the Agency.

 

Ms. Gillian Primus is the Administrative Assistant at NaDMA. Ms. Primus joined the Agency on March 2006 in the said position having previously served with the National Infectious Disease Control Unit of the Ministry of Health from 2001 to then. Ms. Primus also worked for a while with Lewis Construction and has served as a volunteer for a number of years with Hopepals, a humanitarian group whichserves persons living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. Ms. Primus' background is in Administration.

kemjonesThe Community Program Officer responsible for Grenada North is Mr. Kem Jones. Mr. Jones joined the Agency inMay 2009 previously worked as a free lance journalist. He carries with him extensive experienceof work in the field of youth and is an avid community worker. Mr. Jones is one of the founders of the Caribbean Youth Volunteer Service andwas previously employed as the Assistant Accountants Clerk at the Grenada Housing Authority.

jasonlyonsMr. Jason Lyons is the Community Program Officer responsible for Grenada South. Mr. Lyons is a highly qualified Information Technologist and carries with him over twelve (12) years experience in this area. He has represented Grenada internationally on numerous occasions as a Youth Ambassador with the Duke of Edinburg Award Scheme and has a wealth of knowledge as it relates to the method of empowering communities.

Ms. Chery Ann Phillip is now the Clerk/Typist at NaDMA. Ms. Phillip, a graduate of the Anglican High School started working at the Agency on November 30th 2009. Ms. Phillip who was formerly employed with Chanel's Hair Salon also worked at Deco Industries and had a short stint, serving in the area of Administration and Sales at the Barnacle Newpaper.

 

nicolejohnsonThe Registry is staffed by two persons. One such person is Ms. Nicole Johnson. She joined the Agency in April 2003 as aTrainee under the then NERO. Ms. Johnson became appointed as a temporary member of staff in April of 2004.

 

 

 

glennettegriffithMs. Glennette Griffith joined the staff of NaDMA in January of 2009 and is the other Officer attached to the Registry. Prior to her tenure at the Agency, Ms. Griffith served in the Ministry of Social Development, Family and Gender Division up to May 2005. She also served at the Registry at the Office of the Prime Minister until she joined NaDMA.

 

javonbaptisteNaDMA's Front Desk Receptionist is Ms. Javon Baptiste. A graduate of the Anglican High School, Ms. Baptiste joined the Agency on January 2nd 2009. Ms. Baptiste was formerly employed as a Receptionist and then performed secretarial duties at the Early Childhood Division both at the Ministry of Education.She also worked with the St. Andrew's Call Center for approximately two (2) years.

 

seanalexanderMr. Sean Alexander is the Agency's driver. Mr. Alexander joined the Agency is this capacity in May of 2005 and has been here since. Mr. Alexander is the former driver of the Hon. Ben Jones, former Prime Minister of Grenada.

 

 

Mrs. Joan Gilbert is one of the longest serving members of the NaDMA staff. Mrs. Gilbert is the Cleaner at the Agency and has been here since 1996.
