Welcome to NaDMA
The National Disaster Office located at Fort Frederick in Richmond Hill, St. George's houses the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Agency. The Agency was established in 1985 under the then name National Emergency Relief Organization (NERO). In 2005, on a conclusion of Cabinet, the name was then changed to the National Disaster Management Agency to more adequately reflect the mandate of the Agency as that of the holistic management of emergencies and not solely for the purpose of relief and response.

- The Agency continues to empower communities by building their capacity and encouraging them to take ownership of the many projects which they will be involved in. This week September 7th to 11th, Mr. Paul Saunders, Disaster Risk Management Consultant is in Grenada to address the issue of assisting five pilot communities namely Hillsborough, Mt. Craven, Corinth, Mt. Horne and Poterie, to develop their disaster preparedness plans.
- Given that the need of each community would vary, Mr. Saunders has embarked on engaging these communities individually in the identification of these needs so that they can be specifically targeted by the Agency in the development of a workable document.
- Mr. Saunders who is ably assisted by the two Community Program Officers and the newly appointed Deputy Coordinator Ms. Marcia Lawrence, has a packed week ahead of him and hopes to be back by the end of September to concretize the process which he has commenced.
