Official Launch of the Coalition for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) (posted 02/2004) On October 24, 2003, the Coalition for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was officially launched at a formal gala dinner, held under the auspices of the Governor General Sir Daniel Williams, at the Rex Grenadian Resort. With cocktails and a rolling video presentation to start the evening, the atmosphere tingled with excitement as hundreds gathered to celebrate the fruition of a hard-earned vision to bring together global community leaders who advocate and mobilize resources to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Grenada.
Building A Nation Workshop Oct. 2003 (posted 02/2004) The Grenada National Council of the Disabled (GNCD), in partnership with St. George’s University (SGU) and Independent Group Home Living (IGHL), hosted a 2-day training workshop on October 21-22, 2003 titled “Building A Nation Through Disabilities.” Drawing an overflowing crowd of direct care providers and organizational administrators in Grenada, topics covered included multidisciplinary approaches to assessing disabilities, developing behavior modification programs, utilizing adaptive equipment to increase accessibility and reviewing actual case studies of Grenadians living with disabilities.

Disability, Family and the Community Workshop (posted 12/02) The Grenada National Council of the Disabled (GNCD) jointly sponsored the Disability, Family and the Community workshop on 17 October 2002 with St. George’s University (SGU). Held at the Caribbean House on the True Blue campus, the workshop proposed methods to improve social understanding and conditions for persons with disabilities through break-out sessions and presentations from field experts. 2002 Schoolbooks Programme (posted 09/02) For the seventh year running, the Grenada National Council of the Disabled (GNCD) distributed schoolbooks to children who have disabilities or who have parents with disabilities. Since the inception of GNCD’s Schoolbooks Programme, over fifteen students have benefited.
